 Biography . . .

KL HEAGEN received her Bachelor of Arts degree in fine art from
     •
California State
University Long Beach, specializing in drawing and painting,
with continuing studies at •Art Center College
of Design, Pasadena.
     After a twenty-year
career in graphic design, she returned to her love of
     oil painting
full time. Abstract landscapes are her signature contemporary style,
inspired by her worldly travels. She enjoys the challenge of combining traditional
subjects with modern techniques, involving contrasting colors and textures.
Oil on canvas is her preferred medium.

She is the niece of internationally acclaimed watercolorist Marbury Hill Brown,
     and has also studied
under accomplished painters Andrew Dickson, Marie Thibeault,
     and world-renowned sculptor Ronald Brown.

KL Heagen participated in her first Laguna Beach Festival of the Arts at age six.
     She
is a member of the Oil Painters of America and Impressionist Painters of America.
Her work is displayed at regional galleries and exhibits
.

       Artist's Statement . .   .

"I enjoy translating natural environments and tangible forms into intense color
contrasts. My style involves fluidity, balance, energy, luminous temperature and light.
Using undulating rhythms of color, form and dimension are presented within
passive space. Abstract and organic shapes join to create a realm that is literal
as well as imaginable, enabling the viewer to identify reality as well as illusion.
The surreal dimensionality of this realm ultimately transcends from the canvas
to the mind as one's own perceivable inner rhythms of life."
